Where to go canoeing in Wisconsin

Some of the best canoeing in Wisconsin can be found in Rusk County. The county is home to four of the finest rivers in the Northwoods--the Chippewa, Flambeau, Jump and Thornapple rivers. The rivers offer a full range of experiences for river canoeing and kayaking, including multi-day camping drips, whitewater runs and quiet family friendly waters.

Here's an overview of the paddling options, including links to Wisconsin river maps.

And here are four scenic paddling routes.

Chippewa River - County Highway D to Imalone

Flambeau River - Big Falls Dam to Ladysmith

Jump River - Sheldon to Lake Holcombe

Thornapple River - State Highway 27 to Bruce
