X-Country Ski Trail Update – March 8, 2012

Trails will continue to have adequate snowcover for some time, especially the Blue Hills Trails. However, warm conditions during the day are limiting grooming and only providing a couple hour window in the morning (as long as temps get below freezing overnight), when skiing is good.

An additional inch or two of snow was received early in the week, firming up the base and providing great conditions on the Blue Hills Trails. Both sides of the trail system have been groomed (skating and classical), and good conditions are still being reported. Check out their website for current conditions http://www.bluehillstrail.com/
The Ladysmith Lighted Loop and Sisters Farm trails have preivously been groomed and tracked, howeverw arm weather is deteriorating trails.

A good moist 3″ of snow was received on Monday, firming up the base and providing great conditions on local trails.

Both sides of the trail system have been groomed (skating and classical), and excellent conditions are being reported.

The Ladysmith Lighted Loop and Sisters Farm trails have been groomed and tracked. A good base is now present and good conditions can be found.

X-Country Ski Trails Updated – January 4, 2012

All cross country ski trails in the county are open and have received some grooming. The Blue Hills Trails have the best snow cover with 4-6″, with 20 km of the trails being groomed – including 5 km of the trails being groomed for classical skiing. Good conditions can be found on the gravel road of the core loop of the trails. A new snow shoe trail has also been opened. The Ladysmith Lighted Loop (lights are turned on from dusk to 10 p.m.) and Sisters Farm trails have both been rolled. There is a little thinner snow cover on these trails with some bare spots. There is a skied in classical track.

X-Country Ski Trails are excellent throughout the County, and are receiving routine grooming. Additional snowfalls and seasonal temps have kept the trails in great shape.

Trail conditions have improved with colder temps and additional grooming. Even with last weeks warm weather and rain, the base remains solid and continual light snowfalls have refreshed the trails. Trails are groomed for classical and freestyle skiing. The lights are on at the Ladysmith High School trail. Really?  Its the first weekend in February, the trails are flush with snow, the groomers are working the trails almost every day, temperatures are perfect, and conditions are excellent.  Time to stop checking the conditions and get out and glide.
