Snowmobile Trail Report – January 24, 2012

Snowmobile trails remain closed. A few more inches of snow was received early in the week, but more is needed for grooming to occur and trails to be opened.

January 24, 2012
A good moist 3″ of snow was received on Monday, firming up the base and providing great conditions on local trails.
Blue Hills Trails
Both sides of the trail system have been groomed (skating and classical), and excellent conditions are being reported.

The Ladysmith Lighted Loop and Sisters Farm trails have been groomed and tracked. A good base is now present and good conditions can be found.

X-Country Ski Trails Updated – January 4, 2012

All cross country ski trails in the county are open and have received some grooming. The Blue Hills Trails have the best snow cover with 4-6″, with 20 km of the trails being groomed – including 5 km of the trails being groomed for classical skiing. Good conditions can be found on the gravel road of the core loop of the trails. A new snow shoe trail has also been opened. The Ladysmith Lighted Loop (lights are turned on from dusk to 10 p.m.) and Sisters Farm trails have both been rolled. There is a little thinner snow cover on these trails with some bare spots. There is a skied in classical track.

The area has about 4-6″ of snow on the ground, but more is needed for grooming to occur and the trails to open. It can’t get here soon enough! Check back for details.
