Snowmobile Trail Update – December 30, 2010
Thursday, December 30th, 2010
Effective immediately – and until further notice – Rusk County Snowmobile trails are closed. Warm weather and rain have significantly deteriorated trails over the last 24 hours, and more rain is anticipated. Closing the trails will help preserve what remains of the trail base until colder temps return. Check back for further updates as cold temps and snow are forecast for the upcoming week.

Snowmobile Trail Update – December 21, 2010
Tuesday, December 21st, 2010
Rusk County Snowmobile Trails are now open, and another 4-5″ of snow was received overnight, for a total snowcover in the 2′ range. Fair/Poor conditions are being reported around the County. The poorer conditions are generally because of the difficulty in grooming some trails – some trails also remain ungroomed. Groomers will continue to work trails, and conditions should improve. Caution should be used as swamps, streams, and rivers have not all frozen, and open water could be present. Be aware, and look for trail changes due to these conditions. Do not go off trail or beyond closed gates or trails. We will update as conditions change.

X-Country Ski Trail Update – December 14, 2010
Tuesday, December 14th, 2010
What a way to start winter. Almost 20 inches of new snow in the last week. Groomers are out on all ski trail systems, and are reporting great conditions. It will probably take a few times of grooming to get all the snow packed and groomed, but expect good to excellent conditions shortly. The lights are on at the Ladysmith High School trail. Snowmobile Trail Update – December 14, 2010
Tuesday, December 14th, 2010
Winter is off to a great start. Almost 20 inches of new snow in the last week has provided the area with decent snow cover. At this time trails are not open, but expect to have more information in the next day or two. Groomers should be headed out getting the trails packed. While we have gotten the snow, it is likely that not all streams and swamps were frozen before the snow so conditions may not be safe. Check back for more details on trail openings.

Snowmobile Trail Update – March 8, 2010
Many trails in the County are unrideable and it is planned that trails will close on Monday March 8. A continued stretch of warm temperatures days has deteriorated trails rapidly. Trails throughout the area are in very poor condition with exposed areas and standing water. It is anticipated that trails will continue to deteriorate with temperatures forecast in the 40′s through the weekend, with the potential of rain. Be advised that a couple of trails (NE of Ladysmith #99 and N. of Hawkins #25) have seen some damage from logging operations.
